GSC Thailand orphanage volunteers work with orphans in Central Thailand to bring light and happiness into the lives of these disadvantaged children. Most of these children have lost their parents, or are from impoverished families or disenfranchised minority groups. Besides spending time providing companionship and recreational activities with the children, GSC Thailand orphanage volunteers also assist teachers in teaching English. In the Thai orphanages, you will not only be a teacher but also a mentor and friend. You will also have opportunity to assist with construction projects, work with the children in orphanage gardens, help organize arts and crafts activities for the children, and coach sports.

Due to the need to provide adequate understanding and support as well as quality English training to these orphans, GSC prepares its Service-Learning Orphanage Program participants with a two-week cutural orientation and teaching English training. Therefore, Orphanage Program volunteers are required to participate in a four-week minimum short-term program, which consists of two weeks of orientation and training plus the additional minimum two weeks of project work at the orphanage. Homestays are available for volunteers participating in a six-week minimum program.
