Testimonials
"I'm sure when I ponder my life experiences, during the twilight of my years, I will regard my six weeks in Thailand as six of the most sensational weeks of my life... I traveled to Thailand hoping for an enriching experience. What I found exceeded my wildest expectations."
Chris Cox, International Health Program, Thailand
VOLUNTEER ABROAD IN CAMBODIA IN ASIA
Cambodia, the Kingdom of Wonder, is home to majestic temple ruins, rainforests, laid- back coastal resorts, an increasingly cosmopolitan capital, and warm and gracious people.

GSC Service-Learning Programs in Cambodia give volunteers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture, while also providing meaningful service to the most vulnerable populations of Cambodia. All volunteers receive a week of cultural orientation and technical training specific to their chosen program. A guided tour of local historical and cultural sites will give you insight into the storied history of Cambodia. As you receive your technical training, you will become prepared to transition into your pre-arranged placement, where you will assist in implementing much needed services to the local community. Evenings and weekends provide time for excursions around the area, seeing artisans at work producing hand-made crafts, visiting temples and museums, and perhaps joining a local festival.

Global Service Corps provides a variety of volunteer project placements in Cambodia.  For medical professionals, GSC offers an International Health Program where participants work with local non-profit organizations or private healthcare facilities to assist in their daily activities. Non-professionals interested in international health and those hoping to work in HIV/AIDS education are welcome to apply for the HIV/AIDS Prevention Program, which is being built upon the foundation of GSC’s best practices from our HIV/AIDS Prevention Programs in Tanzania and Thailand. Opportunities to teach English are also available.

Poverty and war have left many orphans in Cambodia, so volunteers also have the option of being placed with local organizations to assist with the day-to-day activities of orphanages. Participants will be prepared to teach English as needed and to embrace the opportunity to become a much needed mentor and friend to these young children. Integrated Programs are also an option for volunteers who can commit to a long-term program and hope to experience multiple modules and placements.

Cambodia Volunteers can choose from a variety of service-learning programs including:

- Teaching HIV/AIDS Prevention and Education
- Orphanage Care in Cambodia
- Teaching English Abroad in Cambodia
- International Health Volunteering
- Integrated Volunteer Programs in Cambodia allow for combining two of more of these programs.

GSC works closely with each participant to facilitate a placement that best meets both their needs and the needs of the local community at that time. GSC’s in-country staff has a wealth of experience teaching in the local schools and non profit organizations, and works closely with them to arrange placements for GSC’s volunteers. As with all of GSC’s Service-Learning Programs, equally important are the volunteer’s experience and the meaningful service that is provided to their gracious Cambodian hosts. Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome to apply.
